Do you find yourself wondering how you can save money each month? A few extra charges on your bank statement, that extra cup of super expensive coffee and missed discounts on groceries are just a few of the extra costs that you can avoid every month.
Jennifer Cohen, a contributor to Forbes magazine wrote a great article this year called 16 Savvy Ways to Save Money Every Month. In it, she covers a number of money saving topics such as using a budget tracking app on your smart phone to track your expenses, cutting out some of those seemingly insignificant extra monthly costs (which add up very quickly), double checking prices at the grocery store and how to be a more disciplined shopper.
While ten dollars here and there might not seem like a lot, if you add everything up at the end of the month you might find that you have a couple of hundred dollars that could easily stay in your pocket instead of being spent on non-essentials. That’s not to say you shouldn’t enjoy a few “treats” every once in a while, but if you find that expenses are getting out of hand, the best way to get them under control is to monitor your spending and become a more disciplined consumer.
Another thing to keep in mind is the fact that better control of your expenses can also lead to an improvement in your credit rating which delivers other benefits.
